Karate primarily a striking art is part of the curriculum in Mangadu Public school. It uses punches and kicks, traditional karate also employs throwing and joint locking techniques which are mastered by our students. In Mangadu Public school students are encouraged to hone weapon based martial arts like Silambam as part of their curriculum. Silambam can help improve physical fitness, mental concentration, mindfulness, and self-confidence. It can also help relieve stress, laziness, and fatigue. It can help improve hand-eye coordination and left and right brain coordination.  This martial art can help instill discipline in children and promote cultural awareness and appreciation. For girls, learning Silambam can offer a means of self-protection against potential threats. Our students have bagged prizes in District, State and National level competitions and brought laurels and accolades to the school.
